How To Maintain Green Grass During The Summer

Lawn Care Tips for Summer

When the summer heat rolls into town, so does a higher possibility of your lawn fading from green to yellow in a matter of days. Luckily, the Fairfield and Westchester counties’ property care professionals at Freddy & Co. have a few helpful tips to take into consideration to help keep your lawn healthy and picture-perfect all summer long:

Don’t Cut Your Lawn Too Short

Believe it or not, many homeowners cut their lawns too short during the summer months. And when this happens, it can cause damage — possibly burning out the property for the remainder of the season without a chance to recuperate.

Knowing this, keep your lawnmower in a higher setting. Doing this will not only protect your turf, but it will also allow for longer roots (which can help with temperature regulation).

Water Your Lawn in the Morning

A common misconception is to water your lawn during the middle of the day — when the sun is at its highest. Unfortunately, doing this wastes water and does not help your property; the sun’s rays will evaporate any H2O before it has the chance to nourish your grass.

The best time to water your lawn during the summer is roughly between 6 am and 9:30 am. This will give your property a chance to absorb water before those powerful UV rays begin to “scorch” your yard.

Consult with a Professional

If you’re doing everything in your power to maintain a nice, green, healthy lawn during the summertime — as well as throughout the year — you may want to consider contacting a four-season property-care professional to help.

They’ll have the tools and expertise not only to ensure that your lawn is picture-perfect in the summertime but healthy throughout the seasons as they come and go.
